Bio

Known as Valeree, queer Los Angeles-based artist Megan Mortensen crafts hooky, R&B and Jazz-influenced pop with a witty, bold point of view, delivering introspective lyrics with mainstream-ready melodies. The Pittsburgh-native songwriter has been candid about her rocky history with substance abuse, involving hospitalizations, various rehab centers, homelessness, and jail; all of which lend themselves to her storytelling pen. Living through these experiences and more as a young woman, Valeree has grown to be a passionate advocate for women and for mental health, both of which are often reflected in her songwriting - her lyrics frequently being very empowering for women and/or open about her own mental health journey. She first garnered buzz with her debut EP “Masochist” in 2020, a project which was nominated for multiple awards, including “Best Pop EP” at the Independent Music Awards. Her sophomore project, 2021 EP “it’s fine, i’m fine”, saw multiple songs experience virality on popular social media platform TikTok, rapidly expanding Valeree’s audience. Her most recent release, single and music video “Say the Word”, has been acclaimed by critics and enthusiastically received by fans. She is currently gearing up to release her debut album in 2022, which will explore mental health, trauma, and addiction through the lens of an empowered woman.
